We booked the day excursion with my cancun tours, choosing the plus package so that we had a light breakfast and unlimited drinks throughout the tour.
We started the day with the famous Tulum Mayan ruins, famous for its Mayan history and gorgeous beach.
From the car park, the entrance is about a 15-20 minutes walk, but thanks to the plus package we were able to take the tractor ‘train’ that only takes 5 minutes, this was perfect as it was a very hot day.
Once we arrived at the Tulum ruins we were introduced to our expert tour guide who showed us around the ruins and gave us a brief history of the Mayan civilisation. Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Mayans.
After the tour around the Mayan ruins, our tour guide gave us some time to wander around the ruins ourselves and go down to the picture perfect beach. We brought our drone with us, in hopes to get some scenic footage of the beach but unfortunately there are numerous ‘No Drone Zones’ around.
After Tulum it was time for lunch at Aktun Chen, which is a scenic rainforest park near Tulum.
The park has some beautiful animals, such as spider monkeys and deer, all of which have been rescued and the majority are being rehabilitated for release.
Lunch was provided as part of the package, we chose cheese quesadilla which came with rice and refried beans. After lunch, it was time for the caves, which were incredible. Our guide took us down to the caves and explained the history and formation of the stalagmites.
Safety first! We were given helmets as the stalagmites hang low in some places.
After walking through these amazing caves it was time to go swimming in the gorgeous cenote. This experience was incredible, we were given a life vest that was strapped around our waist which allowed us to float on the water while using the snorkels we were provided with. Incredibly there were loads of fishes swimming around us too.
